Anthony joined GAR Foundation as their Strategic Communications Manager in June of 2023. As Strategic Communications Manager, Anthony's role is to build awareness of, and broad support for, GAR's work to advance systemic solutions that make Greater Akron a better place for all.
Prior to joining GAR, he spent 16 years at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School as a social studies teacher and a coach. During his time at STVM, Anthony also served in various website, communications, and marketing roles at the school where he helped to create, develop, and implement organizational communications strategies and standards.
Anthony earned his bachelor’s degree in Integrated Social Studies Education from Kent State University and his master’s degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Akron.
After moving to Akron in 2008, he developed an affinity for the City of Akron and its vast history. He has since immersed himself in learning more about Akron’s past, how it connects to the present, and how we can thrive in the future. Anthony currently serves as a board member for the Summit County Historical Society.
Anthony is married to his wife Emily and has two daughters, Sadie and Audrey. The love of his life is his shepherd mix Ava, who enjoys two walks a day and playing fetch with her red frisbee.
When Anthony isn’t working, he likes to stay active. He enjoys hiking, landscape photography, biking, and running. He is a Hike Assist volunteer for Cuyahoga Valley National Park and has been a volunteer photographer for several different organizations.
Believe it or not: Anthony and his wife have visited 13 U.S. National Parks and have a goal to visit all of them.
