We are excited to introduce Karen Hodge as GAR Foundation's Educator Initiative Grant Liaison. With a rich background in education and community engagement, Karen will collaborate with K-12 educators throughout Summit County to bring innovative ideas to life, enhancing classroom learning and addressing students' needs.
To ensure a smooth transition during the current round of EIG applications, Karen will shadow longtime EIG Program Manager Lucille Esposito through the end of February, learning from her expertise and deep connections with local educators. We are grateful for Lucille’s leadership and guidance during this period and look forward to celebrating her contributions as she prepares for her next chapter.
Karen's career has consistently centered around education. She has taught communication courses at The University of Akron, led a community education initiative for the Domestic Violence Project in Canton, and dedicated 30 years to Walsh University, where she excelled in grant writing, fundraising, team leadership, and faculty collaboration to support classroom goals.
Beyond her role at GAR Foundation, Karen partners with nonprofits across northeast Ohio and the nation, assisting organizations in building capacity, developing and executing strategic plans, and coaching boards and staff for greater success.
Please join us in welcoming Karen to the GAR Foundation team. We are excited about the passion and expertise she brings to our mission of supporting innovative educational initiatives in Summit County!
