GAR Foundation Awards $300,000 in Mission-Critical Capital Funding

GAR Foundation distributed $300,000 in mission-critical capital funding to 12 community organizations at its August 7, 2014 distribution meeting, including a $50,000 grant to the Magical Theater Company in support of theater renovations to provide a safe and welcoming venue for children, families, and schools. GAR will return to capital funding in 2015. The deadline to apply for the next round of capital funding is April 17, 2015.
The following organizations also received capital grant awards at the August 7, 2014 GAR Foundation Distribution Committee meeting:
- Archbishop Hoban High School, $20,000, For capital improvements
- Hudson City School District, $20,000, For capital improvements; courtyard learning space at East Woods Elementary School
- Legacy III, Inc., $10,000, For capital improvements; purchase and update of transitional facility
- Magical Theater Company, $50,000, For capital improvements; renovations to the Park Theater
- Mature Services, Inc., $30,000, For capital improvements; facility upgrades
- Ronald McDonald House of Akron, $25,000, For capital improvements; the Promise Capital campaign
- Shaw Jewish Community Center, $10,000, For capital improvements; Make-a-Splash campaign
- Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, $50,000, For capital improvements
- Tri-County Jobs for Ohio’s Graduates, $75,000 , For operations and capital improvements
- Victim Assistance Program, $10,000, For capital improvements
- Walsh Jesuit High School, $20,000 , For capital improvements; Universal Science Lab
- Western Reserve Historical Society, $30,000, For capital improvements; restoration of historical buildings of Hale Farm & Village
