Free

GAR Foundation sponsors and hosts its eighth annual art show featuring works by undergraduate students from Kent State University’s School of Art and The University of Akron’s Myers School of Art.

Event Summary:

The artwork of under undergraduate students from Kent State University’s School of Art brighten the walls of the historic Andrew Jackson House, home to GAR’s offices from February – November. GAR celebrates the students and their work each year at a reception.

About the 2016 exhibition

This year’s talented curator, Angela Biederman, a graduate student specializing in ceramics from Kent State, selected 22 works out of 127 submissions of art. Six students representing The University of Akron and 16 students representing Kent State University were selected.

The selection process and goal for this year’s GAR Annual Art Show was to be as diverse as possible, showing a wide array of two-dimensional works in drawing, painting, printing, digital, and mixed media.  With the addition of a glass display case, this year’s show has made room for three-dimensional works such as glass, ceramics, metals and jewelry; making for an all-encompassing studio arts show representative of the school of art programs at University of Akron and Kent State University.
