After leading GAR’s education grantmaking strategy since 2007, Senior Vice President Kirstin Toth has decided to step away to enjoy more time with family while engaging in selected education consulting work via K.S. Toth Associates, LLC.

“Kirstin has done an incredible job of taking our education work to new levels of strategic impact. The success of our education grantmaking is a direct reflection of her strategic mind, her thought leadership, and the far-reaching network of best practice partners she has cultivated over the years. To say we will miss her is the understatement of the year!” GAR President Christine Amer Mayer commented.

During Kirstin’s tenure, she has shepherded the Foundation’s education work in early childhood literacy, Out-of-School-Time, and extended learning as keys to student success, including the highly praised Essential Experiences℠ for PreK through 5th grade Akron Public Schools students. Most recently, Kirstin has helped to shape the city-wide Youth Success Summit, Akron’s new out-of-school-time network.

Over the last 16 years with the Foundation, Kirstin has spent considerable time working on community boards and committees, notably Summit Education Initiative where she served as Chair; United Way of Summit & Medina; the Fund for Our Economic Future; and the Early Childhood Resource Center which she currently chairs. In 2019, Governor Mike DeWine appointed Kirstin to his Early Childhood Advisory Council where she continues to serve, advancing the best interests of young children across Ohio.

“As I take the next step in my career, I can’t help but be so grateful for all the friends and colleagues who have made my work so rewarding. I’ve learned so much and am so thankful for all the Foundation has done for me. I’ve loved every minute of this role, but it’s time to let others lead,” said Kirstin Toth.

GAR is grateful for Kirstin’s passion for progress in Akron. Her impact will be felt for years to come at the Foundation. We know that she will continue to achieve great things in education and beyond in the greater Akron area!
